To νέο άλμπουμ της Julien Baker, “Little Oblivions” μόλις κυκλοφόρησε από την Matador Records και έχει λάβει εξαιρετικές κριτικές. Έχουν ήδη κυκλοφορήσει τα singles “Hardline“, “Faith Healer”, “Heatwave,” and “Favor” στο οποίο συμμετέχει η Phoebe Bridgers και η Lucy Dacus.

Τον Οκτώβριο, η ανακοίνωση της κυκλοφορίας του άλμπουμ βρέθηκε στα top 20 trending topics του Twitter, ενώ διάφορες special εκδοχές του δίσκου έγιναν αμέσως sold out. Επίσης, οι προπαραγγελίες του δίσκου έφτασαν τις 6.000 και μέχρι σήμερα το single “Faith Healer” έχει ξεπεράσει τα 2εκ. streams.
Οι “New York Times” συμπεριέλαβαν το άλμπουμ στη στήλη “11 Things To Look Forward to In 2021” γράφοντας: «Πώς διατηρεί η τραγουδοποιός μια ειλικρινή ευαισθησία καθώς το κοινό της μεγαλώνει…οδηγεί τη μουσική της σε μεγαλύτερους χώρους, υποστηριζόμενη από μια πλήρη ροκ μπάντα με κιθάρες και δυνατά ντραμς. Αλλά δεν κρύβεται πίσω τους. Εξακολουθεί να είναι αδίστακτη και σκληρή, ιδιαίτερα για τον εαυτό της».
Το “Rolling Stone” έγραψε ότι το “Little Oblivions” δεν είναι μόνο η πιο πλούσια, pop παραγωγή στην καριέρας της Baker, αλλά και η πιο ανελέητα ειλικρινής”.

To “Little Oblivions” είναι το τρίτο άλμπουμ της Julien Baker. Με τον Calvin Lauber στον ήχο και τον Craig Silvey στις μίξεις (The National, Florence & the Machine, Arcade Fire), συνεργάτες της Baker και στον προηγούμενο δίσκο, το άλμπουμ ηχογραφήθηκε στο Memphis μεταξύ του Δεκεμβρίου 2019 και Ιανουαρίου 2020. Η κιθάρα και το πιάνο εμπλουτίζονται με νέες υφές που περιλαμβάνουν μπάσο, ντραμς, synthesizers, μπάντζο και μαντολίνο. Σχεδόν όλα τα όργανα τα έχει παίξει ίδια. Το άλμπουμ αποτελεί μια απρόσκοπτη αυτοβιογραφία με την εμπειρία και τις συχνά σκληρές παρατηρήσεις των τελευταίων ετών. Πηγαίνει την αφηγηματική ικανότητα της Baker σε άλλο υψηλότερο επίπεδο.
Πρόσφατα ανακοίνωσε την πρώτη της συναυλία που θα μεταδοθεί στις 25 Μαρτίου μέσω livestreaming από το STAGED (Audiotree).

To 2018 η Baker δημιούργησε το συγκρότημα boygenius με την Phoebe Bridgers και την Lucy Dacus. Το πρώτο τους ομώνυμο EP και η κοινή περιοδεία τους στην Βόρεια Αμερική σχολιάστηκε ως μια από τις πιο σημαντικές μουσικές συνεργασίες του 2018, με την Baker να αναφέρεται ως από τις δημιουργούς της νέας γενιάς καλλιτεχνών που καθορίζουν την εποχή.
